The Open Alternative in Youth Soccer

Great clubs deserve great competition.
Without the gatekeepers.

The Midwest Super League is the club-first, democratically governed regional competition for U13+ boys and girls — built by the clubs that are the backbone of Midwest soccer.

The Problem

Youth soccer is broken for most clubs

The biggest leagues in the country are closed systems — designed for a small number of elite clubs and funded by families who can afford $5,000+ per season. That leaves hundreds of great clubs on the outside looking in.

Closed & Exclusive

ECNL, MLS NEXT, and N1 hand-pick clubs. If you're not invited, you're out — no matter how good your program is.

Prohibitively Expensive

National league fees, cross-country travel, mandatory showcases — costs that price out families and drain club budgets.

Top-Down Control

Clubs have no vote. Decisions come from league offices, not the coaches and directors who know their communities best.

The Alternative

MSL is built differently

We took everything that's wrong with closed leagues and built the opposite. Open. Democratic. Affordable. Regional.

Open to Every Club

No invitation required. If you're a registered club doing good work in the Midwest, you belong here. Period.

Democratically Governed

One club, one vote. An elected council, transparent budgets, and decisions made by the people who live this every day.

Regionally Smart

Geographic pods keep travel under 4 hours. Cross-pod weekends bring the whole region together on scheduled dates.

Radically Affordable

$500 per team for the full season. Not per player — per team. We publish exactly where every dollar goes.

Merit-Based

Performance on the field determines outcomes. No pay-to-play tiers, no artificial divisions, no politics.

Fully Transparent

Rules, budgets, governance — everything is published and available to every member club. No backroom deals.

What club leaders are saying

The directors, coaches, and families behind MSL's member clubs on why they chose the open alternative.

$500 per team. Not per player — per team. When I tell other DOCs that, they think I'm joking. The value proposition isn't even close.

Plains Pod Member Club

My kids play meaningful games against quality opponents, and I'm not driving 6 hours every weekend or taking out a second mortgage. MSL gets it right.

How It Works

Clubs come together, stay independent

Member clubs keep full control of their own programs. MSL simply provides the framework for competitive, well-organized league play across the region.

1

Regular Season

Within-pod fixtures on weekends. Home-and-away format where possible. Most drives under 4 hours.

2

Cross-Pod Weekends

2–3 designated weekends per season where pods come together at centrally located venues.

3

Season Finale

End-of-season event bringing qualifying teams together for a final round of competition.

Built by clubs, for clubs. No gatekeepers.

For Everyone

Built for the people who matter

For Clubs

Keep your autonomy. Keep your identity. Access organized regional competition that fits your budget and respects your independence.

For Players

Higher-quality games against regional opponents. Real competition that develops skills, not just racks up frequent flyer miles.
